Sand filters are used to remove suspended solids, turbidity, and other particles from water. The system is constructed by placing multiple layers of media with varying particle sizes inside the housing.
In addition to separating solids from water, Multi-Media Filters serve a secondary function of protecting the equipment located downstream. In a system with effective filtration, the load on subsequent treatment filters is minimized, thereby extending equipment lifespan and increasing efficiency.
Multi-Media Filters are used as pre-treatment in process water and drinking water treatment, or to remove turbidity from treated water exiting wastewater treatment systems.
Multi-Media Filters offer the most suitable solution for various capacities and flow rates to meet your filtration needs. They operate optimally with ease of operation and service support. The parameters affecting the efficiency of a Multi-Media Filter are proper bed formation within the filter housing and the correct selection of surface velocity. In a Multi-Media Filter with proper bed formation and a surface velocity selected to match the contaminant load, filtration precision is below 15–20 microns.
During the service cycle, particles trapped between the filter layers are discharged during the backwash cycle, ensuring the filter media is cleaned and refreshed.
